Sad Breakfast is an influential Mexican post-rock and indie rock band formed in Mexico City in 1998. Recognized as one of the pioneering acts within Mexico’s independent scene, the band has become an important reference for several generations of underground and alternative musicians.

With a distinctive sound built around emotional dynamics, atmospheric guitars and a deeply personal approach to songwriting, Sad Breakfast has developed a lasting musical identity. Their work embraces a strong DIY spirit while maintaining a powerful and honest connection with their audience.

Throughout their career, Sad Breakfast has shared the stage with internationally renowned bands such as Explosions in the Sky and Mono, helping consolidate their place as one of the most representative names in Mexican post-rock and indie rock.

In 2026, the band celebrates the 24th anniversary of their debut album, “Don’t Try to Forget, That’s Why People Take Pictures”, recently reissued on vinyl by Skew Eyed Records. This celebration also includes the release of “The Time to Comeback”, a special limited-edition vinyl pressing that brings together the EPs “The Time…” and “To Come Back”.

Both releases will be accompanied by a series of exclusive live shows where the band will revisit essential material from their catalog, reaffirming a legacy built over more than two decades.

Founding members Josué Guijosa (vocals/guitar) and Emiliano Sandoval (drums), together with Hugo Martínez (bass) and longtime friend Erick A. Torres (guitar/vocals), form the current lineup of Sad Breakfast. Their shared history and creative chemistry keep the essence of the band alive, connecting with new generations of listeners while preserving the recognition of critics and long-time followers.
